Hello all,
I'm looking for things tonally similar to The Witcher books, so adult dark fantasy. Or dark sci fi, if that's a thing and has vamp books. I'm not interested in books that are primarily romance or smutty. I'd prefer a shorter series (2-4) books that have audible versions, as I tend to "read" books that way whilst driving or on a walk. Recommend whatever you feel is worth a read though, because if it appeals enough I am willing to take on a longer series or one without an audiobook version.
I'll list some things that I'd like to see at least one of (some will be contradictory, so a story wouldn't need to contain both things at once);
- Vampire culture. Either full societies, or smaller covens/groups with rules and traditions
- Humanity as a whole is aware of vampires, and how that impacts their own cultures and daily lives
- Only a small group of humans know about vampires, could be interesting to see what they do to combat or maybe appease the vampires whilst keeping them a secret
- None of humanity is aware of them, and how the vampires maintain their cover
- Other monsters, magic, typical fantasy elements
- A grounded setting where the only major thing different to our world is the vampires themselves
- Alternate perspective protagonists. Seeing things from the vamp side and human side.
- A more sophisticated variety of vampire instead of a crazed or feral monster.
I am aware of Vampire Hunter D, so no need to recommend that one,
Thanks 🙂
