My mother-in-law has tasked me with creating our book club list for the next six months. We try and choose books to learn about other cultures, so far have read Pachinko, Covenant of Water, Things Fall Apart, A Thousand Splendid Suns. I told her I would “research”, by which I meant come to this amazing group for suggestions! Thank you in advance!!

The island of sea women by Lisa see, or another book by her…. Lady tan’s circle of women
The Garden of Evening Mists by Tan Twain Eng
My book club just did The Lion Women of Tehran. It was really good!
Interpreter of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri is great! It’s a bunch of vignettes/short stories about Indian and Indian-American life. Fountains of Silence by Ruta Sepetys is great if you want to do historical fiction – 1950s love story Spain under Franco’s dictatorship.
What about Solito? It’s a memoir but made me much more informed about what people go through on a literal migration path to immigrate to the United States.
Black Cake by Charmaine Wilkerson and The Flower Boat Girl by Larry Feign and Lady Tan’s Circle of Women by Lisa See.
