I am looking for this kind of sentiment-
that life for a lot of people is routine, drudgery, daily ordinary squabbles, it's an average life. And sometimes people get pulled in different directions by comparisons, expectations ( which could be unrealistic), desires and regrets. I want my protagonist(s) to ultimately make peace with the average life. Like, it's not the death of dreams. This is in contrast with a culture that pushes toxic positivity.
Something in those lines. But not told in an overtly preachy tone. Subtle realization rather than a big bam!
