I need some gender diversity in my authors. I quite like reading short stories, and have absolutely enjoyed Jhumpa Lahiri and Alice Munro to name a couple. There are some more I have read and liked, and many more I have scouted.

Please suggest some stellar male short story writers. The newer the better. So no Hemingway, etc.

    1. Ted Chiang’s *Stories of Your Life*.

For something a bit older (but much younger than Hemingway) that I hold in very high regard, *Welcome to the Monkey House* by Kurt Vonnegut is fantastic, but from 1968.

    2. William Kent Krueger has a few novellas that I have enjoyed. I have mainly read his Cork O’Connor series (which are not novellas) and so had decided to try some of his short stories.
