A friend’s mom has cancer and will soon be confined to her house for a couple of months to recuperate after a procedure.

I’d like to send her 10 to 15 books to help keep her occupied, and thought I’d ask this sub for guidance. I’m not aware of any favorite authors or genres – the only requirements I’ve been given are: (1) no fantasy or sci-fi; and (2) that they be uplifting, and not depressing.

Appreciate any suggestions you can offer!

The Beauty of Humanity Movement by Camilla Gibb

      Happiness by Will Ferguson

      Eleanor Rigby by Douglas Coupland

The Stone Angel by Margaret Lawrence

    2. JEEVES AND WOOSTER! Almost everyone likes these stories because all the rich people are kinda stupid but also well intentioned and the writing is absolutely top tier.

Disclaimer: The books were published in the 1920s so use your discretion about the contents and how they may land with your audience. Some people find reading about race and class attitudes of the time might anger them because of class inequality. Thank You, Jeeves has been updated to reflect more modern attitudes but I’d just avoid that one book altogether if I were you.
