Here’s what I mean by Goldilocks:

Not too hard to understand, political and high-stakes that it requires a lot of mental energy to read

Not too “cozy” and low-stakes and plotless that it’s boring
So I understand that this is contradictory. But I THINK there’s a perfect medium here. And this is absolutely no hate to political or cozy fantasy, I like and read both I just want a book that does both.
Some notes:
- romance is fine but I’d rather it not be the main plot line
- No romance is fine
- I’ll totally take a sci-fi recommendation but I find that they’re usually very political
- Bonus points if there’s an underwater or seaside setting
