I recently started reading (or technically listening to) the Nevermoor books by Jessica Townsend. Reading them reminds me of when I read the Harry Potter books as a teenager. I want to know if there are other books or book series that are like these two series where they are set in a fantasy world where the MC is coming into their own and discovering their power, making friends with a unique group of characters and there's a "big bad" that causes issues along the way.
Even though both of these are YA books and the MCs aren't even teenagers when we first meet them, suggestions can be YA or adult (although I do like the level of 'darkness' you get in YA books)
