Fiction or non-fiction. Injury/crime/failed relationships/disaster/public humiliation/bad decision-making…especially if things fell apart because of the actions of the author/main character.
Preferably no grief (loss of loved one– had enough of those), and I’ve covered most addiction memoirs. Doesn’t have to be inspiring, I am an misanthrope. Bonus if its funny. Thanks!

You might like The Rosie Project. (Along with the two sequels) i wouldn’t say the main character wrecks his life, on purpose anyway but there’s a lot of misunderstanding and awkward moments and him trying to resolve the problems and mostly failing.
It comes in the middle of a series, but *Memory* by Lois McMaster Bujold. >!Everything Miles has built up in his career in Imperial Security comes crashing down around his head due to his own actions. He spends the rest of the book trying to cope with that.!<
Rachel’s Holiday – Marian Keyes
Needle in a haystack, Casey Jordan. (Memoir, Poor decision-making, failed relationships/marriage, crime, addiction, medical trauma, but also contains a loss as well.
