The 20th century English writer H.E. Bates – most famous today for the first four 'The Darling Buds Of May' novels – wrote over 600 short stories. I was wondering if there is a Bates expert out there who can provide a list of books of the stories, specifically identifying the titles of the stories that are most akin to the rural settings and often-humorous tone of 'The Darling Buds Of May'? So far as I know there has never been a one-volume collection of such, though I may be wrong (I've looked). Thus it seems one would have to get all the story collections, and then pick/read selectively. But I would need a guide-list before undertaking that. Many thanks.
