I'm looking for short stories (maybe novelettes or novellas as well), which have a similar vibe or writing style as the following: The Hole by Hye-young Pyun, Bog Girl: A Romance by Karen Russell, Bloodchild by Octavia Butler. I also really loved Autobiography of Red by Anne Carson.
I want something unique, and open to most genres, but gravitate toward sci-fi, magical realism, horror-ish, maybe fantasy. I don't like anything that feels too expected for it's genre (like I don't want a story about robots taking over the world for sci-fi or a haunting story for horror).
Would appreciate any recs! Thanks
