I’m 44. My dad (64) passed away on Tuesday evening. He battled against MS for a very long time & he finally lost that battle. The disease ravaged his body to the point that it finally just started shutting down one system at a time.
It’s been a very hard few days – even being confronted with the reality that this was coming for the last few years, it’s safe to say I wasn’t as prepared for the finality of his passing as I thought I was.
My dad was a retired combat vet. He served in the 82nd Airborne for the majority of his 16 years in the service. He loved the outdoors, and would take my brothers and I camping, fishing, and hiking when were young. As a family, we would spend one week every summer at a small little lake house. That is still where my happiest memories of my dad live.
I am looking for books, whether they be fiction or non, about father/son relationships. An outdoors and/or military component to the story would be a plus but isn’t necessary. Really just looking for something I can dig into that can help me as I go through this.
