I’m looking for a book like Travels with Charley by John Steinbeck but with a cat as the companion

I loved how the relationship between dog and man was presented in Travels with Charley and would love to read something similar with a cat. Doesn't need to be an on the road story, just something slow and reflective that also features a cat but not in an overly sentimental or twee way. Thanks!
