I just reread Mark Lawrence’s Prince of Thorns trilogy.
Its best to go in knowing very little, but what I can tell you is it’s set in a broken empire from the POV of a 14 year old boy (don’t let the age put you off, he sure isn’t a normal 14 year old) that travels with a band of ruthless and lawless vagabonds who burn villages and torture people for entertainment.
It’s dark, like dark dark.
