I wanna dive into Charles Portis world, which book to start with first?
The dog of the south or true grit?
I love character driven, funny dialogue, or bizarre plot that aren’t very vague like ( fear and loathing in las vegas )
True Grit is a good place to start (I would think that it’s most folks’ starting point due to its popularity). I’ve probably reread Gringos the most out of any of his work though. Something about it strikes me just right.

I think Norwood is just about perfect.
