I am an avid reader, as most on this page are, and I always find interesting what components other readers think eventually build up to make a great book. Maybe this can also aid people in searching for similar books of their favorites. My favorite is "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee. I know this sounds cliche, but it's true. For me, the characters are well developed and each have their own personlities; it teaches many good lessons via Atticus Finch (my favorite character of all time); and it all tells the haunting but realistic tale of one African American man's unfortunate experience that came as a result from 1930s segregation in the deep south- a tragic account of what was sadly far too common in this time period.
