I’ve read the books several times over, and especially after these two sequels. But I’m genuinely surprised that I completely skimmed past Greasy Sae until this past reread. Greasy Sae being a covey name all the way back in the first set of books is impressive to me, because it shows Suzanne Collins’ intent and that she isn’t simply writing more for the sake of it and coming up with ideas on the fly, but she’s expanding the original world she created. I was worried we might end up getting hamfisted details after the fact that rewrite the story, like some authors do. But I didn’t clock the double name and Sae being such an obscure reference to color until this time around.
