I've heard of those old "Flowers in the Attic" books that were the era's "Twilight" for all the '70s and '80s teen girls. Not really interested in those.
I would prefer a book aimed at an adult audience rather than YA.
Having read a True Crime account, I want a psychological FICTIONAL horror story about a weird, twisted family like the Turpins, who kept their 13 children isolated and tortured for decades.

This might not hit exactly what you’re looking for, but check out Under the Banner of Heaven by Jon Krakauer. It’s about the FLDS and I think would scratch the itch for learning more about cults like that. It is non-fiction though.
