Looking for good writing, but also a good plot

I enjoy literary fiction but I feel like most of the novels I’ve read recently have forgotten how to tell a story. They’re so focused on character, interior dialog, and identity that the plot gets short shrift. I’d like to find something contemporary that harkens back to 20th century fiction like John Le Carre or Graham Greene – solid writing but also a page turner. Other authors I’ve enjoyed include Hilary Mantel, Ian McEwan, Jonathan Franzen, and Kazuo Ishiguro. Not adverse to genre fiction although Sci-Fi/Fantasy isn’t really my thing.
