As title says
Game of thrones is obviously fantasy and not an accurate representation of what it was like in the 11th century. but it's way of describing medicine, jousting, knighthood, lordship, warfare and politics all seem to have more elements of truth than fiction in them.
If taught me a lot about how life, warfair and courtship worked in medieval England. And after doing further research into a lot of these elements I was always pleasantly surprised how accurate GRR martin was when creating his world.
Things like using moldy bread, boiled wine, and maggots for medicine is all true. Or the way jousting worked with ransoms and buying back armor and horses, it seemed it was teaching about history as much as it was creating a fantasy
I was wondering if there are any equivalents type of books to samurai? Or Chinese nobility/soldiers? It doesn't even need to be fantasy necessarily, just a story which seems to teach the audience about the time period while the story is taking place in an accurate way?
