    Hey all,

I absolutely love history books, especially the ones with a lot of drama in them.

It is a bit difficult to explain but great men losing their minds during war, saying inspiring quotes etc. are all very interesting for me.

As an example I can give Adam Hochschild's books. Also recently I have been listening to Blueprint for Armageddon by Hardcore History, and it has the exact vibe I am looking for.

*Battle Cry of Freedom: The Civil War Era* by James McPherson.

*A Distant Mirror: The Calamitous 14th Century* by Barbara Tuchman.

*The Rising Sun: The Decline and Fall of the Japanese Empire,1936-1945* by John Toland.

    2. It’s hard to beat **War and Peace** by Tolstoy. A drama set before and during Napoleon’s invasion of Russia in the early 19th century. It involves several more or less interconnected Russian aristocratic families, and principally follows two young men, one of whom joins the aristocracy and the other who joins the military.

It is filled with plenty of drama, big quotes and occasional musings by Tolstoy himself on the nature of history, causality and the forces that drive the thrusts of world affairs.
