I would like to read fiction and nonfiction about the area of the USA where the corners of Iowa, Minnesota, South Dakota, and Nebraska come together. I think it would be called “the prairie”. I want to know about frontierism and farming like the Ingalls family was doing, but I’d also like to learn about local plants and animals, history, immigration, the Sioux people, and even just random stories set in the area. I’d prefer adult literature, but YA would be okay.
I read David Laskin’s book, The Children’s Blizzard (2004) about the 1888 storm that ravaged this location and LOVED it! It was riveting and I learned a ton. Any other books like that one?
