Can someone suggest a recent book or even old book with a character that lives in a carefree life or a book where life teaches the main character a lesson to change their life not their love interest. Please no books with philosophical jargon or socio-political issues being the main issue the world of the story are bothered by. I need a happy story because reading crime and espionage will make you suspicious of everything lol

Not a very recent book. Zorba the Greek by Nikos Kazantzakis. The unnamed protagonist, a somewhat anxious bookworm, meets the carefree Zorba and learns a new way of engaging with life
For a lighthearted story with a character who undergoes personal growth, my suggestions are:
‘The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared’ by Jonas Jonasson:
This book follows Allan who on his 100th birthday decides to climb out of his retirement home window and embark on a series of escapades. Allan has lived a carefree life. The book is about his journey and the consequences of his spontaneous actions.
‘A Man Called Ove’ by Fredrik Backman:
Ove is a grumpy man who’s lost his wife and sees little reason to continue living. However, his life is turned upside down by his neighbours. It’s a story about Ove learning to find joy in life again, not through a love interest, but through community.
I have read both so I can highly recommend. They’re very popular books, so I am fully aware you may have already read them if you’re an avid reader! Happy reading.
