I got a new ereader recently and finally finished The Great Alone (amazing book) and officially broke it in rereading my all time favorite of Call of the Wild.

Reading them back to back made me realize that some of my favorite themes/settings/whathaveyou in some books I've read are

-The character(s) finding themselves in or returning to "the wild" (particularly alaska/the arctic/winter & snow in general)

-The environment itself feeling like a character and/or antagonist.

I've read multiple books set heavily in Alaska or primarily taking place in heavy snowfall and the characters needing to adapt and survive, and finding themselves in that process.

Not really limited to a certain genre, totally fine with romance or sci-fi elements but a more historical fiction vibe is my favorite here. I'm not really looking for a straight up wilderness survival story, the book doesn't need to be brutal or anything like that.

I'm actively looking up books, I hate trying to find recommended books online because it's all either books by the same author (not necessarily wrong, I've read other books by both authors) or the search engines just absolutely cling on to a word like 'alaska'.
