Books you believe most easily could make a great movie
I’m in general not that into watching adaptations but which book do you think would make a kickass film. I Always thought if the Cohen Brothers directed native tongue by Carl Hiaasen it would be Awesome.
The secret history would probably be great with the right director

Just finished Nicked by MT Anderson and it blew me away in so many ways and also it would make such a fantastic movie in the right hands

The Haar would be a great A24 film

Rules of Civility. When I read it I said I want a movie of this right now.

Rose Daughter by Robin McKinley should be a Ghibli movie.

I don’t know why more of Rushdie’s books aren’t movies.

I recently read The Manhattan Hunt Club and thought it’d be a great film

The Quincunx by Charles Palliser would be a great movie; it could also make a fantastic BBC or HBO miniseries.
I would love to see an adaptation of Piranesi by Susanna Clarke only if it was animated.

Mine actually:
My NOVA System series is a fast paced, action filled, spy technothriller. It is YA, but has a bit for everyone to enjoy. Deep state shadow governments? Yes.
Romance? Yes. BA female agents? Yes. Larger than life villains? Absolutely! Go check them out! The first book has won 1 award and is up for more! All are available on KU!
Titles are The NOVA System, The Mental Take Over, and The Collective.

Now that we have really excellent CGI I’d love to see the Dragonriders of Pern as a movie.

Sword of kaigen would be awesome as an animated series. Basically just adult avatar with katanas.

I wasnt too fond of the book, but I think Remarkably Bright Creatures would make a lovely anime, esp if they could make the story more surprising than the book and feature Marcellus more
I also think the following books would work really well if given a studio Ghibli style on the big screen:
The Traveling Cat Chronicles
The Remains of the Day (I know it’s been done and it was excellent, but would love it as an anime too)

I feel like Studio Ghibli could make a nice adaptation of “The Hounds of the Morrigan” by Pat O’Shea.
Also, “Birnam Wood” by Eleanor Catton could make a great movie (possibly directed by Jane Campion).
I’m also wondering if The Wachowski’s could do something with “Space Opera” by Catherynne M. Valente or “Manhunt” by Gretchen Felker-Martin (maybe a bit far-fetched, but still).
To me, “The Death of the Little Match Girl” by Zoran Feric also kinda read like an Alejandro Jodorowsky movie, so that would be cool. (Actually, the book has been adapted recently, but I haven’t watched it yet and I don’t think they leaned into that aspect.)
Tbh, I don’t think any of those would actually be easy to adapt though…
“History of Wolves” by Emily Fridlund might be comparably easy though and I could see that being a really nice drama movie. Not sure which director I would chose though… maybe Céline Sciamma or Agnieszka Holland or Chloé Zhao?

Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler could be phenomenal with the right director. It has to be someone who’s not afraid to traumatize their audience. Too many would turn it into some epic apocalyptic drama but the most terrifying moments in the book are the small ones that happen in passing.

I always thought Surface Detail was the most cinematic of the culture novels. It would cost a fortune to make.
