Queer books that deal with tragic circumstances and have a rather sorrowful (but beautiful) tone yet for some reason they restore faith in humanity (meaning they end on a rather happy note)?

I could have said "give me some books that have a similar feel to the music of ANOHNI and the Johnsons" but I wasn't sure if this band was famous enough so people would get an idea of what I need.

I'm looking for queer novels that have a rather sorrowful and tragic tone, yet they are full of beauty and they have the power to restore your faith in people, the world, and so on.
