Best fiction about adulting

I'm looking to get some fiction where a core element is someone having to figure out how to be an adult.

An example would be Lord of the Flies: Ralph, only 12 but voted to be in charge, spends the majority of the book trying very hard to figure out what an adult would do in his situation.
