I could very much be missing something, but it sort of felt like an edgy atheist's writing in his teen years, with a persecution fetish to top it off…
Perhaps in its time it was quite profound, but for me the types of ideas in The Stranger don't seem to stand the test of time like, for instance some of the arguments Dostoyevsky writes against and for atheism, nihilism..etc
Then I see these memes about the myth of Sisyphus and I love what I'm hearing and the ideas behind it.
