Ill be blunt.
I have an uncle that only reads in the bathroom. He subscribes to readers digest because they have short stores that are only a few pages long.
He was saying a few years back that no one writes wild west or frontier stories in decades
I would love to find a collection of very short stories that I can give him as a gift. Even if its an old publication that i can still manage to find on the used market.
Let me know if you have any ideas.

I really enjoyed Still Wild – edited by Larry McMurtry.
Might be a little old even for him, but some of the most famous are The Luck of Roaring Camp and Other Stories and The Outcasts of Poker Flat and Other Stories, both by Bret Harte.

Zane Gray wrote Western short stories as did Max Brand
Look around for collections of either
Not real short but Jim Harrison has novellas that take place in western US.
The Complete Western Stories of Elmore Leonard (the man who wrote Three-Ten To Yuma)
