I started this book, and I'm about 90 pages in and its like a history book at this point. It's emotionless, the dialogue is awkwardly rigid, and the punctuations are non existent.
I like this new reading style, but I find it very weird. I have never read something like this. Is this common in his works or is this book an exception?

    1. I’ve only read 3 McCarthy books, including The Road, and it feels like each one has a distinctive McCarthy mark, while also being different from other McCarthy books

    2. I felt similarly. But I think it’s a purposeful choice to make the story fell more bleak and desolate.

    3. Hah, the road is very straightforwardly written for McCarthy. I’m halfway through Suttree right now, and I feel like I’ve read every page twice to glean meaning. And don’t get me started on Blood Meridian!

Huh. I just had *The Road* put on hold at the library. I’ve never read McCarthy before. Sounds like I’m in for an interesting experience.
