So, I need something new to read. I’m 18M and only started reading not too long ago. In my free time, I mostly play video games and (less often) watch anime. I don't really know what genre
want to read. Looking for… idk, maybe some fantasy, comedy, something fun to read or maybe with technology? Recommend anything, but please, tell me what the book is about.
Here are some books people recommended to me before, along with my thoughts on them:
Ready Player One – I was pleasantly surprised by how different it was from the movie, and I really enjoyed it. The pacing was just right, made me laugh a few times, though I didn’t get like 80% of the references.
How to Become a Dark Lord and Die Trying – Started off really good, but it kept getting worse and kinda boring. Seemed interesting, and I really wanted to keep reading, but it wasn’t worth it. Also, I’m not a native speaker, and the way this book is written made it harder for me to understand everything. Dropped at 30%.
All Systems Red – Boring. Didn’t really care about the mission or whatever. Dropped at 30%.
The Scholomance – Didn’t like it. It starts in the middle of the school year, so there’s no real sense of exploring and learning about the school like in Harry Potter. Felt like there was no goal. Boring. Dropped at 20%.
Dungeon Crawler Carl – Holy shit, I love this series. Probably thanks to the audiobook, but I really enjoy it. The humor, character development, system AI, talk shows—I like it all. Though, I must admit there were some boring moments, usually during exploring or long boss fights. I’m currently listening to book 4.
Side note: As I said, I’m not a native speaker. While I understand everything in Dungeon Crawler Carl, I struggled a bit with How to Become a Dark Lord and Die Trying. That doesn’t mean I’m looking for something written in brain-dead English, just nothing too difficult to read.
