i'm currently doing a re-read of "The Dresden Files" by Jim Butcher, and it sparked looking for more books with a powerful/somewhat over-powerful main character. i love the classic heroes journey type fantasy books, i'm really just looking for anything great with a powerful MC. bonus points if the main character has trauma and/or experiences traumatic things in the novel!!

The Scholomance trilogy by Naomi Novik, starting with A Deadly Education. One of the MC’s struggles is that she is over-powered and constantly has to rein herself in to not cause too much damage or destruction.
