I’ve been reading this to my 10 year old son and he loves it. He can follow most of the ideas (I explain if it’s tricky) and enjoys the human stories and quirky details that Bryson weaves in so brilliantly.
So I’m looking for suggestions for other popular non-fiction books, suitable for older kids but to be read by an adult (so not simplified kids versions), preferably with a bit of humour in them. History/science/nature/anthropology/geography all good

The Body by Bill Bryson, is all about history of disease and medicine and is excellent.
Then all Bill Bryson travel books…
