Two of my favorites were the Animorphs and Redwall series. I've been listening to the Animorphs audiobooks in the car, and I was pleasantly surprised to discover they are every bit as fun as an adult as I remembered from when I was in primary school (even if they are very disturbing at times 😆), and I imagine it will be the same with Redwall, so I was wondering what others held up with time. Not just for nostalgia—legitimately enjoyable books.

I usually reread The Giver series by Lois Lowry every year or so. After the first book the series goes a completely different direction and I kinda love it for that.
Ranger’s Apprentice! I actually just re-read a few of them and still loved them. One of the most underappreciated YA series out there, in my opinion.
Not exactly the prompt, but a YA book that I read for the first time as an adult and loved – The Tenth Mistake of Hank Hooperman. Hank’s mother disappears, leaving him, an 11-year-old boy, and his 3-year-old sister alone at home for a week before he manages to find someone to help – his deceased grandmother’s best friend whom he has never met before and who reluctantly takes them in while CPS sorts things out. It’s heart-wrenching to see the burdens this boy carries and how he loves his sister.
