Books that read the same as La La Land/Normal People?

I really love La La Land and Normal People—they both heavily resonate with me.
I’m looking for a book that captures a similar emotional tone: romantic, dreamy, nostalgic, a little bittersweet—but without leaning too heavily into a sappy, cheesy/romantic plot. Maybe just a sad romance? Something that will make me cry?
