I’m looking for some more or less modern Fantasy or SciFi book series where the MC or MCs across the books are going from just local city guards, farmers, accountants, spaceships pilot to someone important leading armies or doing anything else important

Read A Song of Ice and Fire Series, it’s not finished yet but MC definitely has a great role in the story.
