My favorite is The Amazing Adventures of Cavalier and Klay, by Michael Chabon. (Two young Jewish men living in NYC during pre-WWII partner to create a superhero comic.)

Now that you say. I loved and love Archer’s Voice by Mia Shredon. It’s a magical book.
I don’t have just one favorite, but some of them are The Bone People by Keri Hulme, Our Mutual Friend by Dickens, The Covenant of Water by Abraham Verghese, Busman’s Honeymoon by Dorothy Sayers and Sailing to Sarantium by Guy Gavriel Kay
