My recent reads (the Housemaid, Yellowface, Mexican Gothic, The Maidens) ,did not linger or make a lasting impression. I usually am affected for days by a good read and reading something that doesn't alter my personality or make me ponder feels like time spent frivolously.
I want to read stories like A gentleman in Russia, All the light we cannot see, the Millenium trilogy, anything written well with a good pacing, while also introducing me to new words and places. I want to feel more learned and enriched after reading it.
Any recommendations please? I am not looking for historical fiction only, I'm open to all genres except horror and am not a fan of fantasy anymore .
