I'm taking over leading a social justice book club, and the members of the club prefer to read fictionized books that discuss social justice issues but will read others. Titles read that they have enjoyed so far include True Biz by Sara Novic, Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingslover, America Redux by Ariel Aberg-Riger, The 57 Bus by Dashka Slater, Lawn Boy by Jonathon Evison, The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store by James McBride, and Persepolis by Mariane Satrapi. They've read more than this but the list would get really long. This is just to show the net of issues they've talked about/read about so far. So please, give me your best Social Justice book recommendations and I will add them to my running list for possibilities in 2026!
