    Hi everyone!

I just recently finished reading 'The House Witch's trilogy by Delemhach, and I absolutely loved it. I find it hard to find fantasy books that have good male protagonists. Lately everything I see is warrior women, and while I live those books too, reading the house witch made me realize just how few books on my bookshelf have male leads that I admire. So, if anyone has any recommendations, specifically in the Fantasy genre but I'll take anything at this point, with male protagonists, I'd love to hear about them! Queer books with male leads are also good, romance isn't a must. I'm hoping maybe I'm just looking in the wrong place and so I'm missing some real gems out there.

    Thanks for your recommendations!

    1. Though I’ve probably recommended it too many times already, I think The Curse of Chalion by Lois McMaster Bujold is a great fit. Truly compelling male protagonist.

You might also enjoy The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch.

    2. The Magicians (trilogy) by Lev Grossman. The reason I specified all 3 books is that you kind of hate the main character at first, but he has the best character arc I’ve ever read. If you’ve seen the tv series, this is it, but not it.

Most of the most famous fantasy books have male protagonists.  I’m curious what fantasy you’ve been reading if you’ve only come across female protagonists.

But here’s a list of some good ones with male protagonists:

      Lord of the Rings

      The Hobbit

      Kingkiller Chronicle

      Stormlight Archive

      Wheel of Time

      Game of Thrones

      Harry Potter

      Percy Jackson

      Sword of Shanara

      Riftwar Saga

      The Once and Future King

      First Law Trilogy

      Farseer Trilogy

      Malazan Books of the Fallen

      The Black Company

      Raven’s Shadow Trilogy

      Dresden Files

      Thomas Covenant series

      The Magicians

Icewind Dale Trilogy, pretty much all of R.A Salvatore’s stuff

      Rivers of London series

      Dune

      American Gods

      Good Omens

The Warlord Chronicles by Bernard Cornwell. Light on the fantasy (there aren’t like dragons soaring about, and even the magic is questioned).

The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern

Not fantasy, but I really enjoyed it, Whalefall by Daniel Kraus
