Hello!
I’ve been reading voraciously so far this year, but April has gotten me into a slump. I’m reading an ARC of the new CG Drews book, Hazelthorn, and I love it — but it is so dark and so heavy that my reading speed has just plummeted.
I also DNF’d Hungerstone this month (for now!) for similar reasons.
So what are your favorite light and airy, maybe a little cozy, maybe a little silly SFF books that I can devour in a single sitting? Bonus points if they’re written by and/or feature queer, gender nonconforming, disabled, and/or non-white people. Light horror or horror adjacent is also fine.
Some books I’ve read that fit the vibe I’m looking for:
- All of Becky Chambers
- Legends and Lattes
- Emily Wilde Trilogy
- Light from Uncommon Stars
- Dead Cat Tail Assassins
- Bury Your Gays
My TBR is infinite but hoping y’all can help me add a few more!

Project Lyra by Vincent Kane, reminded me of the movie Arrival or Contact or Interstellar, gives off those vibes.
Race of the Anandulin – This will probably remind him of Anime
