I have read off and on over the years, but never for too long. My career in technology required a lot of technical content. Now, with a desire to avoid the TV and doomscrolling, I am embarking on an effort to read for pleasure and escapism.
I've read a lot about California and Los Angeles history over the years, but have recently discovered a thread I've been enjoying:
A Salty Piece of Land – Jimmy Buffet
Kitchen Confidential – Anthony Bourdain
Don't Stop The Carnival – Herman Wouk
Illusions – Richard Bach
The Rum Diary – Hunter S. Thompson
I'm reading for escapism and to forget a bit about today's challenging world, and I seem to enjoy the Caribbean, Flying, Sailing and places with lots of interesting characters. I also get lost in books that are too thick. I'm not adverse to collections of short stories.
Your time and thought in responding to this is appreciated. Also, ideas about where to look for lists like the New York times bestseller list would be helpful. Thanks in advance and enjoy your day, good reading to all.
