I am looking for short stories that can be read in one sitting for my grandma. She has always loved books but her memory is not what it used to be, so retaining a story over multiple sittings is no longer possible, and I find her reading the first 10 pages of a book and then returning to read that first ten pages. I'd love for her to enjoy the full arc of a story again if possible.
Looking for murder mystery, realistic fiction, or historical fiction, with plots that aren't super convoluted (time skips are very confusing to her, at least on TV). I'm not sure what her favorite books are, but she likes Vera and Father Brown on TV if that helps.
She would likely be read to or, I'm looking into audio books as well. I was able to read about 45 pages to her in a sitting today.
