Hey yall! I'm a trans gal and i've been, unfortunately, struck by that feeling of lost youth. Of wishing I had been able to grow up as a girl and experience all of the difficulties that that entails
So my next best option is to read all about it in a book! Preferrably not too horribly sad, but not without any down moments too. Beautiful prose is a plus too!
I'm fine with any genre as long as its realistic, except non-fiction
Thanks in advance _^

Anywhere But Here by Mona Simpson, which was also adapted into a pretty good movie starring Natalie Portman and Susan Sarandon.
White Oleander by Janet Fitch, also adapted into a good movie.
Both of those are heavy on motherhood issues and unhealthy mother-daughter relationships, by the way.
For a much different vibe about girlhood to womanhood, the Anne of Green Gables series.
Edit: Also forgot the quintessential girls’ author of the 80s and 90s, Judy Blume. Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret is the classic example.
