Looking for a book to educate him on the basics of world religions but at the same time, not encourage him to participate in any of it. Purely educational, completely neutral. Any suggestions?
The Popular Handbook of world Religions by Daniel J. McCoy

Not what you asked for but if he likes video games, age of mythology got me into all of the ancient religions and I still have a passion for them to this day!

*Theo’s Odyssey* by Catherine Clément! When I first read it I thought of it as doing for theology and religion what *Sophie’s World* did for philosophy – unfairly, since *Theo’s Odyssey* was published 14 years before *Sophie’s World*. It’s the story of a boy who travels around the world with his aunt and is getting to know all the religions and beliefs of the world. It reads a bit like a big road trip, but it also works great as an introduction to world religions for a young reader. It’s not “preachy” but very neutral in tone, as in, this is what people believe, you make up your own mind about it.

*Stranger in a Strange Land* by Robert Heinlein will teach him the first part of all religious thinking.
