I M19 used to love reading when I was younger. I am a French native speaker, but every piece of content that I watch online is English, so I learned to understand and read English.
I remember when I was 13-14 I devoured Amos Daragon (Fantasy books for teenagers) in a couple of months, I couldn’t stop reading.
I stopped for a couple of years, but when I got to 18, the itch came back, I bought a kindle, because I like to read in the pool and at night without a light. I had a lot of trouble to find a book I would like and checked suggestion videos on YouTube. A lot of people praised Stephen King, so I started reading Billy Summers, but I didn’t really hook me. I then just abandonned reading again for a couple of months.
Recently, I was scrolling through my Kindle and saw The Housemaid with a lot of reviews, so I started reading and I couldn’t stop, I read it in like 2 weeks (which is really fast for me) but then I didn’t like the second Housemaid book. So I looked at her other books and found The Inmate, which I also liked a lot, but this time it took me about 2 months to finish it.
That was about 6 months ago. I started reading some classics like Sherlock Holmes, but it didn’t hook me again…
Any tips on how to have more patience when reading a book to not stop reading after 30 pages and how to find a good book ? Also can you guys please recommend some of your 5 star books ?
