I’m trying to broaden my horizons and read some SciFi. But I can’t tell if it’s just “not for me” or the books I’m grabbing just aren’t a good transition, or if the swing between fantasy is just taking me some time to get used to. So far I’ve tried reading Altered Carbon (only got 25% before I decided to take a break) and I’m reading neruomancer. Reading them I can tell why people like them, but I usually read before bed and they put me right to sleep. It could be that I’m just really tired as of late but I’ve been doing this for years and some books just grab ya and I have to force myself to put it down and go to sleep. So any suggestions of SciFi, cyberpunk if possible but I’m open to others, you would recommend for a relative newbie.
Books I like in the fantasy genre: All of the second apocalypse series by Bakker. I’ve read all of the First Law. The Witcher series, Between Two fires…Im more of a grimdark fan. I’ve also read Red Rising trilogy and loved it. So we can skip that rec.
Please and thank you!
