My guilty pleasure is Patricia Kenneally’s ‘Strange Days’ about her relationship (and I use that word in the loosest sense) with Jim Morrison. By her own account, she only met him a handful of times, but – well, you have to read it to see her interpretation of it. It’s such an entertaining book.

For a more complete picture of Jim Morrison, you can’t beat ‘No One Here Gets Out Alive’ by Jerry Hopkins and Danny Sugarman.

I really loved ‘Coal Black Mornings’ by Brett Anderson of Suede, and if you came of age in 1980s or 90s UK, it’s full of nostalgia for childhood. However, of the band is more your thing, then the follow up, ‘Afternoons With the Blinds Drawn’ is about the trials and tribulations of the band as they adapted to fame. Both are really welll-written, although a different vibe to DJATS or AF.
