Im looking for books with deaths you wouldn’t expect, relationships you didn’t see coming, heart breaking moments that rip you to shreds, and character choices that infuriate you in the best way. Basically, incredible stories that only THAT author could have told in THAT way!
I’m not married to any genres! I just love ART — beautiful writing with big reveals or scenes that make your jaw drop, your hair stand up, and make you scream “WHAT?!” in the middle of a public library!
Any suggestions?

Didn’t make me say what but I felt completely dirty reading “The End of Alice” while I rode the bus
This is a short story and not a novel, but the story “The Cemetery Where Al Jolson is Buried” by Amy Hempel had me sobbing on the subway many years ago.
The angriest a book has ever made me was the last chapter of ‘Johnny Got His Gun’ by Dalton Trumbo.
