I am an avid reader and I was recently in a slump last year, but since Christmas I have begun reading more. The problem is not that I don't have the attention span or the habit because I have started and almost finished a ton of books, it's just that I think what's the point anymore? I don't know, maybe it's smart just to move away from books and find a new hobby but I miss being enthralled by books. That doesn't happen anymore cuz I feel like I can predict everything and nothing is really worth it (?) I for one recognize the magnificent stuff books can teach you but recently I haven't been as enthusiastic. Any recs?

I think it’s times like these where it’s important to just take a break for a while. Regardless of whether you’re reading the “wrong” books or whether you’re simply just not feeling it the same way even with the “right” books, it’s important for every hobbyist to take breaks! And I do mean intentional breaks in contrast to a slump, which is different.
This break can be putting more time into non-reading activities altogether, or perhaps a switch to entirely non-fiction where “predicting” the ending is more or less impossible and you’re simply reading for the sake of learning.
But whatever the case may be, I think sometimes the right call is to just hit the brakes for a while and allow the desire/passion to return whenever it is ready.
Have you tried wandering around the library? I enjoy finding books that I would never buy, taking them home and trying them out.
If you are looking for books that you can’t predict the endings, try nonfiction. I recommend books by Sam Kean, Eric Larson, Oliver Sacks, and Mary Roach. They write in an almost fiction style that is engaging and entertaining.
I hope you find your groove again.
