I love Lord of the Rings. I love the story, the companionship, the world, the characters, everything. I’ve read the whole series three times. I know its like a one in a million series, but I’m curious if there are any epic type of fantasy books that are similar in tone but with strong female characters instead?
I’ve read Mists of Avalon fwiw, not quite what I’m looking for…any other suggestions?

Throne of Glass series has the long epic fantasy you’re looking for but adds a large amount of interpersonal dynamics and romance.

The Mages of Ambrai books by Melanie Rawn are about a matriarchal society. Magic, politics, intrigue, love, war… and it’s set in a world where rich old women weld gold chains around the waists of they young men so they can’t get fat. She didn’t miss a detail. There are only two of them, unfortunately she got cancer or something and never went back to write #3, but they are absolutely still worth reading
